We raise awareness about mental health
Mostly Mad Music is a charity which runs events, delivers music programs and creates mixed platform multimedia content. We use music as an icebreaker and to start difficult conversations about mental health. Our live events create relaxed and vibrant settings where people from all backgrounds can come together and share positive and moving experiences.
Our multimedia content targets hard to reach demographics, building engagement and creating empathy in audiences.
We believe music transcends difference and forges connections.
We use tailored strategies to explore the relationship between music, mental illness and mental health.
The power and passion of music
Music can be a powerful way to get your message across. Our CEO, Esther Pavel-Wood is an experienced public speaker and available to talk about mental health and music at public, corporate and mental health sector events.
Our extensive arts and mental health networks mean we can support you to raise awareness about specific social sector issues and source high end musicians to feature at your functions.
We can work with you to design wellness and mental health focussed live events, film content and social media and mental health promotional material.
We work with qualified music therapists to deliver tailored music programs to suit the needs of your service users.
Please contact us if you would like to know more about the services we offer.
Our Programs
Mostly Mad Music was born of a desire to highlight the wonderfully therapeutic effects of music on mental health and well-being. But we also believe in the importance of giving everybody the chance to hear beautiful music. So in our first year, 2018, Mostly Mad Music’s flagship program – In Harmony – ran for the first time. We took classical music from the concert hall to people with a lived experience of mental illness and homelessness in the lead up to Mental Health Month. And we made a mini-documentary about our experience.
In 2019, we took the same idea and made it bigger and better – this time taking music to the streets and the people of Sydney. Our musicians performed pop up concerts in Martin Place, Hyde Park, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.
Mostly Mad Music is currently in pre-production phase for our 2021 concert – to be held at Sydney Town Hall.
We are also participating in exciting research on links between anxiety and music and developing new film and documentary content.
Please get in touch if you would like to be on our mailing list and be kept up to date with our programs and services as they develop.
